
Challenge
Stoke on Trent College, in collaboration with Staffordshire University’s Higher Horizons Uni-Connect team, wanted to provide their Further Education students with tools to manage stress and build resilience. 2engage’s challenge was to deliver these skills effectively across diverse learner groups during a Big Tutorial Week.
Project
2engage were approached to deliver their interactive resilience workshop ‘Back to Our Future’. This 50-minute presentation explores the themes of resilience and stress management and includes practical tips, relatable situations, and interactive discussions.
A total of 15 sessions were conducted across two campuses at Stoke on Trent College. These sessions catered to all levels of students, including ESOL learners from various subjects and educational levels.
Aims
The primary aims of the workshops were:
- To enhance students’ understanding of resilience and stress management.
- To provide practical tips and strategies for managing stress.
- To engage students in interactive discussions to better prepare them for life’s uncertainties.
Outcomes of Resilience Workshops
Engagement and Positive Reception
All 15 sessions were well-received by learners and tutors, generating positive testimonies and productive discussions. The sessions were inclusive, accommodating the needs of ESOL learners and Level 1 students.
Impact and Reach
The workshops engaged over 2000 students, providing them with valuable insights into stress management and resilience. Both Staffordshire University and Stoke on Trent College expressed their satisfaction with the outcomes.
