Practical, in-person training for healthcare professionals, teams and students
Are you looking to strengthen the communication and interpersonal skills of your healthcare teams?
Healthcare communication training can help professionals and teams build confidence, strengthen relationships and navigate challenging interactions. Building on our established work in nursing education, 2engage is now adapting its participatory approach for CPD, preceptorship and workforce development. Our communication training has been developed and delivered at scale through our partnership with the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Chester.
Grounded in communication theory and informed by applied theatre techniques, this training combines immersive, real-world scenarios in which participants discuss, practise and reflect on challenging interactions with patients, families, colleagues and wider healthcare teams. By exploring situations from different perspectives, they develop a greater understanding of how communication, behaviour and personal assumptions can influence trust, professional relationships and the experience of care.
Participants can practise challenging interactions, make mistakes safely, refine their approach and learn from their peers.
Participant evaluations found that 98.4% of nursing students agreed that the training supported their learning and professional development.
Building on this established approach, we are now adapting the training for CPD, preceptorship and workforce development. We will work with your organisation to tailor the scenarios, content, and learning outcomes to your workforce’s needs.

Transforming Healthcare Training
Our training is grounded in theory, but participants will learn by doing. Informed by applied theatre techniques, we use creative, participatory approaches alongside structured reflection to help healthcare professionals build confidence and strengthen interpersonal skills.
Participants will take part in a variety of hands-on, interactive exercises that simulate real-world clinical scenarios whilst aligning with the NMC and HCPC standards of proficiency. They’ll be challenged to interact, make mistakes, refine their approach, and learn from their peers in a safe and supportive environment.
We are proud to work with the University of Chester’s School of Nursing and Midwifery, whose wider commitment to innovative education has received national recognition. In 2026, the University won Teaching Innovation of the Year: Curriculum at the Student Nursing Times Awards for its simulated night shift initiative, designed to prepare student nurses for the realities of clinical practice.

Builds Essential Interpersonal Skills
Participants strengthen empathy, active listening, assertiveness and perspective-taking, helping them approach complex interactions with greater confidence and compassion.

Builds Confidence through Practice
Realistic scenarios allow participants to practise challenging conversations, receive immediate feedback and try different approaches without the pressures of a clinical environment.

Develops Professional Curiosity and Inclusive Practice
Participants explore bias, assumptions and microaggressions, developing the confidence to ask questions, challenge respectfully and communicate more inclusively.

Strengthens Teamwork and Communication
Participants practise clear communication, constructive challenge and conflict management, helping them build stronger relationships with colleagues, patients and families.

Supports Reflection and Resilience
Guided reflection helps participants recognise how they respond under pressure, learn from their peers and develop more confident approaches to demanding situations, and how they reflect on these.
