Conferences, conventions and events can be heavy going. The food’s good, coffee’s flowing and the air conditioning is pumping, but there are only so many keynotes and presentations someone can truly take in before energy levels dip. We write and produce theatre performances with a message. It’s how we communicate. For almost 2 decades we have created theatre-based provocations that are educational and thought-provoking, laying the foundations for debate and discussion among our audiences. The Telford “Educational Inputs, Employment Outputs” conference was no different.
Keys Outcomes: Provoke debate and discussion around the following key themes:
- New pressures facing education
- English Baccalaureate, league tables, qualification pathways
- Work readiness of young people

- Addressing the way institutions are working with employers
Outcome.
Telford and Wrekin council approached 2engage to create 2 bespoke performances for the 14-19 agenda in Telford. The first show entitled “ready to learn” kicked off the conference covering issues such as the English baccalaureate, league tables, qualifications pathways and the pressures that face education at the present time. The second show bookended the initial show and dealt with issues in employment, such as job losses, de-motivated workforce and strikes. Based on a series of research consultation sessions, we able to intelligently present issues in a comedic way but address serious current issues under the 14-19 agenda.
2engage meet with clients and establish what needs to be said, what argument needs presenting, where to drop a few private jokes and what we shouldn’t touch with a barge-pole. It’s then researched and a steady stream of communication leading to the final product. Something that, beyond everything, freshens up any conference or event as well as provoking discussion.
