Working With Care-Experienced Young People
At 2engage, we offer engaging and dynamic sessions for care-experienced young people, focusing on self-development and work readiness. These sessions are designed not only to build vital skills such as public speaking, interview techniques, and goal setting but also to foster confidence and self-awareness.
Topics that might initially seem daunting—like personal safety, money management, and career planning—are made accessible and engaging, ensuring that young people understand their relevance in real-life contexts.
Through our partnerships, some participants have gained qualifications, providing them with tangible proof of their achievements and enhancing their future prospects.
We often incorporate theatre-based methods, using real stories of lived experience to provoke thought and spark meaningful conversations. This approach allows young people to see themselves reflected in powerful narratives, fostering understanding, empathy, and a deeper connection to the content.
Additionally, we use participatory workshop techniques to create a supportive environment that encourages learning and confidence-building, helping young people step outside their comfort zones and realise their full potential.
Ultimately, our aim is to help care-experienced young people break through the stigma, barriers, and low expectations that so often hold them back, empowering them to realise their true capabilities.
